Tips To Shift Internally And Find A Self-Love Path
When I say the phrase 'how to practice self-compassion,' it may seem like an airy, fairy, soft and naïve form of work. However, practising self-compassion is the key to making effective shifts within ourselves. With every client I have had, I have noticed that none of them have this particular attribute. I bet most of us, if not all of us, struggle to make this happen. After 40 years of life, I finally found self-compassion, and I can tell you that EVERYTHING changed. Self-compassion places you on the path of self-love, and self-love means valuing yourself and not judging yourself. Part of our culture can portray a ‘poor me’ and ‘victim mentality’. When we keep placing ourselves as the victim, we are still in a state of anger and resentment, and here, we close ourselves to love and what the universe has for us. Self-compassion is very different; self-compassion is something our caregivers couldn’t show us as they couldn’t do it for themselves, nor were they taught it as a child.
Here we explore the most important first step to healing: self compassion and how without this the mind can take over and delay healing.
Compassion For Your Inner Self
By having self-compassion for our inner selves, we can ground ourselves and stay in our bodies to release the emotions that have built up. We also start building confidence as we are now being kind to our inner selves and realising that ‘I’ must be used as the ‘I’ is the if ‘I am not putting my inner self first’ or ‘if I am not valuing my inner self by having compassion for it’ then ‘how can I ever build self-confidence as I would not know my inner self-worth.’ Many leading ‘gurus’ or ‘advisors’ believe that self-confidence accounts for affirmations and valuing your inner self alone; however, this is surface-level work, and the real work takes talking to your womb (your nurturing side) and allowing yourself to feel for your inner self like a little child that has been deeply hurt, not just intellectually understanding it, but going into the feelings.
When we start practising connecting to our feelings properly, finding our inner self is the next step. But we cannot do this without being with our feelings. So start asking yourself, ‘How does this feel?’ Then, be mindful of self-compassion and how lacking this has been in your life. How do these words feel for you? Do you want to find your inner self and have self-compassion for yourself? Or do you want to continue self-sabotaging and not letting yourself heal properly? Much of this comes down to choice. However, it is not as simple as that either. Our karma and past life have influences on our self in this lifetime, and because of this heaviness, it can make it difficult to move forward. By clearing karma with others and within ourselves, we can help ourselves through this process and find such concepts as self-compassion easier to do.
